edatelder Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 In this weather I don't think you need the air con compressor! Set the the climate cotrol or temp control to 22 deg C and drive for asbout 15 minutes or 10 miles. Does it get warm then? Quote
gregers Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 iirc my compressor will not kick in with these low tempratures we are all having.turn on aircon to see if the clutch plate is spinning? Quote
Mirez Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 A/C Won't engage below around +4*c so that'll be why your compressors not kicking in. As above after a 10 mile journey you should have heat, if its *just* starting to come in then the most likely suspect would be the thermostat. Quote

big_kev Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Does the rear heater blow hot ?   If so it is a faulty flap motor on the front heater. If not then it is an engine/thermostat problem and not an aircon/heating problem. Quote

Does it get warm then?  Engine warms up as it should, all climate controls work fine only blowing cold air regardless of the temp set on display. Quote

Bigjeeze Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Could be Thermostat or even an air lock Quote
dave030445 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 sounds like what happen to mine and it was the heater matrix Quote
Floydey Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 My Mk2 Tdi has suddenly stopped blowing warm air despite the fact the temperature gauge is showing normal, when you say "heater matrix" what exactly do you mean? Quote
edatelder Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 The matrix is the heat exchanger within the dashboard area where the heat from the water is transferred to the air blowing through it. It's like another radiator. Due to the small bore pipes within them they can get blocked. Quote
